The peninsula covers two quite different kinds of wedding morning: the wineries and farmhouses up around Red Hill and Merricks, and the coastal houses down towards Sorrento and Portsea. Both usually mean a rented house with the whole party staying together the night before, which makes for a relaxed start if the timings are right.
This is the longest regular drive Stefany makes - about 101 kilometres and at least an hour and a quarter each way from Essendon North, without traffic. It is a genuinely early start, and it is worth confirming your date as far ahead as you can, since a peninsula wedding takes the whole day rather than a morning.
Coastal weddings bring wind and salt air, which is what the preparation is built around. If you are getting ready by the water, it is worth talking through hair in particular - a style that holds on the peninsula is not always the same one that holds in the city.
